Health & Education
National Institutes of Health – One of the foremost research institutes in the world. There is much information for the average consumer as well. Check out their web tab “Health” and then the quick link to Seniors Health.
American Association of Retired People (AARP) – A national organization that advocates for the elderly. There are many local chapters.
Alzheimer’s Association – This national organization also has local chapters. It provides information and support services to those with Alzheimer’s disease and their families.
Consumer Consortium on Assisted Living – A national consumer based organization focused on the needs, rights and protection of assisted living consumers.
Help Guide – A non-profit organization dedicated to helping people understand, prevent and resolve life’s challenges. There is an extensive section on Seniors and Aging.
National Institute on Aging – A part of the National Institutes of Health, provides information on aging as well as links to a list of over 300 national organizations that provide information and help to older adults.
National Center for Assisted Living – resources and information on assisted living.
American Health Care Association – a non-profit federation of state health organizations, representing more than 10,000 nursing home, assisted living, developmentally-disabled, and subacute care providers that care for more than 1.5 million elderly and disabled individuals.
Assisted Living Federation of America – assisted living resources and assisted living regulations from the Assisted Living Federation of America.
Senior Sanctuary – a comprehensive directory of retirement homes, retirement communities, senior housing, long term care and elder care facilities.
